The Londesborough Estate. a lovely place for a short stroll through the fabulous londesborough estate, near pocklington. the londesborough estate passed into the ownership of the dukes of devonshire in 1753 through lord burlington's only surviving child, charlotte, who had married the man who would become the 4th duke of devonshire in 1748. We walked into londesborough village for our lunch outside the beautiful grade 1 listed all saints church. The path eventually forks in the parkland and i recommend taking the left fork into londesborough village leading to its beautiful grade 1 listed medieval church. The parkland was first laid out in. after a brief period of ownership by george hudson in the 1840s, the estate was sold to the denison family who took the title of lord. the victorian hall is privately owned now along with the estate lands but can just be made out from the parkland. the old gateposts of the londesborough estate give you a clue as to being on the right track. the yorkshire wolds way passes through the beautiful parkland of the londesborough estate.
