Start by placing an A4 paper in front of you, colored side facing down. For younger kids, you might want to use colored paper to make it more engaging.

Now, fold the paper in half diagonally to form a triangle. Then, fold it in half again along the other diagonal. You should now have a smaller square shape.

Take the two bottom corners of the square and fold them up to meet the top point. This will create a kite shape.

Next, fold the top layer of the two new top corners down to the bottom point. You should now see a small square in the middle. This is the body of your crane.

Fold the top two corners down to the bottom point again. This time, don't fold the top layer. Instead, unfold the last fold slightly to create a small pocket.

Now, reach into the pocket and pull out the two sides to create the wings. Finally, fold the top point down to create the crane's neck. Your crane is now ready to fly!

Boat - A Fun and Interactive Origami Project

Who doesn't love playing with boats? This origami boat is not only easy to make but also provides hours of fun in the bath or sink.

Let's make a whole fleet of origami boats and have a race!

Folding the Base

Start with an A4 paper, colored side facing down. Fold it in half horizontally to create a rectangle. Then, fold it in half vertically to create a square.

Now, unfold the last fold and bring the two sides together to meet the center line. You should now have a thin rectangle. Fold this in half lengthwise to create the base of your boat.

Creating the Boat Shape

Fold the top two corners down to meet the center line. Then, fold the bottom point up to meet the top point. You should now have a small square with a triangle on top.

Finally, fold the two sides in to meet the center line. Your origami boat is now ready to sail! To make it even more fun, you can add a small piece of paper or clay as a sail.

Origami is a wonderful activity that combines art, geometry, and fun. Encourage your kids to explore different origami shapes and share their creations with you. Who knows, you might even learn a thing or two from them! Happy folding!
