These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the use of the DasoMaps mobile application and its dmaps variant (together, "the App"), developed by Jose Bengoa ("we", "the Developer"). By downloading, installing or using the App, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
DasoMaps is a mapping and forest/mountain management application, with online and offline functionality: base maps, geometry capture, route recording and following, a collaborative water points layer, a repository of routes shared by the community ("daso-routes"), querying of the Spanish Forest Map, voice commands and a conversational help assistant.
Some functions require an internet connection and a connection to our backend
(api.dasomaps.com); others work entirely offline. We do not
guarantee that all functions are available at all times (see section 8).
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use the App on devices that you control, solely for your legitimate personal or professional use.
You are not permitted to:
DasoMaps is proprietary software. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved to the Developer.
The App does not require registration with a name, email or password. When you use it, an anonymous identifier (UUID) is automatically generated on your device, which you may optionally accompany with a nick. You are responsible for keeping control of your device and for the use made of the App from it.
When using the App's community functions — contributing or registering a water point, uploading a photo, sharing a track as a daso-route, or sending a feedback comment — ("User Content"), you declare and warrant that:
You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, distribute and process (including through third-party AI services to generate automatic summaries/tags) that User Content, for the sole purpose of operating the App's community functionality — that is, so that other users can view and download it. User Content shared with the community is public within the App (for example, water point photos or published routes).
You can delete your own User Content at any time from the App. We reserve the right to moderate, correct or remove User Content that breaches these Terms, without prior notice.
The App includes information generated, in part, by the user community itself (drinkability and status of water points, routes, difficulty estimated by AI) and third-party data (base maps, wildfire hotspots, the Spanish Forest Map, official CNIG/FEDME routes). This information is provided "as is" and may be out of date, incomplete or contain errors.
The drinkability and availability of the water points shown have not been verified by us and depend on contributions from other users; do not use it as your only source for deciding whether to drink from a point.
Wildfire hotspots and other risk layers are shown for information only and do not replace the official emergency channels (112, civil protection) or the official signage on the ground.
Route, distance, elevation gain and difficulty data, including that generated by AI, are estimates and may not reflect the real conditions of the terrain at the time of your visit.
Use of the App for outdoor activities (hiking, mountaineering, forest management) is at your own risk and discretion. Always carry navigation and safety equipment appropriate to the activity, independent of the App.
The App integrates with third-party services: OpenStreetMap, the Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN), IDECyL, ESRI, Google (Drive, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage), official route repositories (CNIG/FEDME), the Spanish Forest Map (MITECO), and artificial intelligence providers for route enrichment and the Kora assistant. Each of these services is governed by its own terms and policies; we are not responsible for their availability, accuracy or content.
DasoMaps is currently free and ad-free. We reserve the right to introduce, in the future, advertising, in-app purchases, subscriptions or paid features, for all or part of the functionality. If this happens, we will notify you within the App before it takes effect and, where the law so requires, we will update these Terms and the Privacy Policy accordingly and request the appropriate consent.
Functions that depend on our backend (water points, daso-routes, feedback, news, the Kora assistant) require the service to be operational. We may suspend, modify or interrupt the service, temporarily or permanently, with or without prior notice, for maintenance, technical reasons or business decisions. Functionality that does not depend on the backend (downloaded maps, geometries, local tracks) is not affected by this.
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, that it will operate without interruption, or the accuracy of the cartographic, forestry or community data described in section 5.
Nothing in this section limits the rights that Spanish or European Union law mandatorily grants you as a consumer.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the App, including — without limitation — decisions made on the basis of water point, route, wildfire or forest cartography data shown in the App (see section 5).
The App is not specifically directed at children under 13. If you are a minor, you need the consent of your parent or legal guardian to use the App.
You may stop using the App and uninstall it at any time. We may suspend or cancel your access to the community functions if you breach these Terms (for example, by knowingly uploading false information or abusing the feedback service).
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be published at this same URL and, if they are substantial, will be notified by a notice within the App. Continued use of the App after the changes are published implies acceptance of them.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by Spanish law.
For the resolution of any dispute or conflict arising from this contract or from the use of the Application, the parties expressly submit to the jurisdiction of the Courts and Tribunals of Valladolid (Spain), except where the user has the status of consumer under the applicable legislation, in which case territorial jurisdiction shall be determined in accordance with the mandatory consumer protection rules that apply (corresponding, in general, to the consumer's place of residence).

If any clause of these Terms is declared invalid or unenforceable, the rest shall remain in force. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Developer regarding the use of the App.
