Jeep Tj Distributor Problems at Robert Belisle blog

Jeep Tj Distributor Problems. I have a suspicion that it's all ignition related. I’ve been replacing multiple components as you all know partly to resolve issues and partly just to have new and known. We tow it home, go to remove the distributor and the same thing has occurred. Its just a tad off. There have been several other tj owners with low milage that had engine failure as a result of worn lifters. But now my distributor isn't lining back up to when i can put the hold down bracket and bolt on. So i recently replaced did a minor rebuild on my 01 tj. There has been some known issues with the cps/distributor shaft bushings. I decided to start with the distributor (lately if turned out to be good decision). Its starting, but running pretty rough. The bushings go bad and the shaft will make a high. I looked and listened to the engine and (with help from the jeep forum guys) narrowed causes down to ignition distributor and/or oil pump. We recently swapped out our tj's 1998 2.5 with a rebuilt one from a '92. I've noticed most of these failures are of the later tjs and with low. I'll upload a pic of what i'm explaining.
