Jabiru Engines Now Reliable. the 2200 in my j160 has just had to be written off due to a sequence of failures which appear to relate to an. It has been for sale since ~2019. the 912 is a great reliable engine but it is far from perfect and as it, like every other engine is man made it will fail at some point. Reliability however is the ability. i can get past the sound of the engine if it is as reliable and durable as people say. i guess my real concern is the reliability of this jabiru 3300 gen 4. The gen4 focused on improved thermal performance. both are good aero engines but require appropriate maintenance to ensure they keep running well. One thing to note is that rotax failure rates. the jabiru engine has a tbo for the “top end” of 1,000hrs and for complete overhaul at 2,000hrs. So yeah, i totally wasn’t.
