Bmw Additive Diesel

New to te diesel world here. I know BMW recommends against using any kind of diesel additive, but I've hear a lot of people using them. Is it really helpful to pour in some additive and if so, how often and what brand?

In reviewing the paperwork I got from the seller of my 2016 BMW 535d, which shows everything done by the local BMW dealer in June '23, I noticed a couple of interesting things. The dealer used a diesel oil conditioner and a diesel fuel system cleaner during the service, or at least the paperwork. I Have not found a BMW. My conclusion: A diesel additive designed to be compatible with modern engine emission abatement schemes, properly dosed to ULSD could only help with the cleanliness, performance and durability of a modern diesel engine -- but it's unlikely you will ever hear BMW say as much.
