Mitchell Race Xtreme (MRX) has made a lot of progress on their amazing BMW E36 "M3X" since our last article. The race car is close to screaming around the track. Under the hood is a carbon fiber airbox feeding air into a 5.0 L BMW S85 V10 with a five.

Here is one of the craziest engine swaps I have ever seen on any BMW. This E36 BMW M3 has the V10 from the E60 M5, and insane looking intakes. I love the way.

The BMW S85B50 is a naturally aspirated V10 petrol engine which replaced the BMW S62 V8 engine in the M5 model and was produced from 2005-2010. This BMW E36 originally came with a turbocharged 1.7 L M41D17 diesel inline-four making 89 hp and 190 Nm (140 lb-ft). The car is now powered by a 5.0 L S85B50 V10 thanks to BC Bawaria Creation in Poland. This is a full bolt in T56 Magnum swap kit for the BMW E36 with M52 engine.

The shifter sits perfectly in the factory location. Driveshaft and clutch is optional, but recommended to make this an easy bolt-in experience. If you add up the cost on all these parts, you will see that I am competitive with big name speed shops like Summit and Jegs.
