Black Background Aquascape. I’m going to do a rolling hairgrass hills with blue sky background. I have black backgrounds on all my tanks, couldn’t agree more! Black definitely brings out the colours in fish and they prefer a darker. By far the best way to make coral colors pop is to paint the outside back wall of your aquarium black. I have had both but i prefer my black background. The black background provides a nice contrast but also makes the tank look busier (?) and more 'closed in', whereas a clear/white background adds a bit more.
