Yamaha Big Bear Starter Solenoid Buzzing. I have been trying to troubleshoot my electric starter not working all of a sudden. Either battery is junk, or loose or corroded. For whatever reason your not getting enough amperage to your starter. The engine does not turn over, the relay just buzzes. Replaced battery with new one and replaced what i believe is the starter solenoid. My issue is the push button start does not work. Turn off the machine and then start it back up again, then hit the starter switch to hear the solenoid close. I am getting a buzzing when i try to start my big bear. The battery was dead as a door. I can pull start it and it runs fine. When you push it nothing happens. Yamaha 400 big bear only clicks when starter button is hit. It could be a nuetral switch or parking brake that interupts the start circuit or a loose connection or broken wire or bad start button. I believe the big bear i have is a 1996. If the machine fires up after replacing the main fuse, check the starter solenoid for voltage.
