I've got a game room that's effectively 2 living rooms in the same space (one modern & one retro with CRT). Technically I have played in the living room before I moved everything to the game room when my wife complained she wanted to watch TV while I was gaming. I have both, a dedicated game room for the old consoles, but the modern consoles are in the living room.
This way, I can easily play modern games - which is a large part of my playtime, more than 50% - with no barrier in the living room where I spend most of the time, whereas for classic games, I go to the dedicated game room.
