Bmw 2002 Turbo Dashboard
Can anyone explain the differences in the various dashboards that were made available to 2002s? I have a 71' and have been told the dashboard I have is from a later model and I would like to revert to an earlier one. Thanks. Original BMW one-piece dashboard for BMW 2002 Tii models (has the hole for the clock) and fits late 02's produced after 09/1973. This dash has ZERO cracks and it is in great condition (This dash is used). The BMW 1600 and 2002 is a compact executive car produced between 1966 and 1977.
The first model was the 1600. This is a replica of the gauge pod found on the factory 2002 Turbos except with provisions for 3 gauges rather than 2. Made in the USA from textured vacuuformed ABS.
Trimmed to fit the late 1-piece dashboards: but may be trimmed for a tighter fit on early 2 or 3 piece dashes. Mounting can be done by velcro or double-sided tape. fits 2 1/16″ (52mm) gauges.

The lucky first owners of the BMW 2002 turbo, the new top model of the successful BMW 02 series which started leaving the factory in October 1973, had to exercise a lot of patience before they could watch the speedometer of their two-door BMW head towards 211 km/h. The turbo debutante's top speed was extremely impressive for the time.
BMW engineers claimed it could cover a dash of 0-60 Mph (0-100 Km/h) in a mere 7.0 seconds and keep going right up to 130 Mph (211 Km/h). It caused quiet a storm in the mid-70's. BMW had successfully produced Europe's first turbo-charged production road car that could only be beaten by a Porsche Carrera with 210 Bhp, in its day.
For obvious reasons, a VDO boost indicator was added to the dashboard. Production of BMW 2002 Turbo ran on standard production line in Munich and, in retrospect, we can say that the car came to market in the most inconvenient time of the oil crisis, which, naturally, impacted the number of units produced.
