Hi all, looking at buying a 1200gs. My budget is about 5k which can get me one about 2010 ish plate with 30k miles. Heard mixed reviews with reliability etc, am I making the right choice by wanting one? New to BMW bikes have rode Honda and kawasaki before looking at 2013 r1200 gs with 33000 mile, what issue should I be looking for or listening, as well as what are the typical mileage the engine and transmission are good for. BMW R1200GS Adventure I too was hesitant on purchasing a new BMW R1200GSA. After many hours of research I decided to go ahead and buy a 2015 brand new GSA. I have owned RT's and R's.
Loved them! Getting back to the GSA. I have to say, the GS Adventure was the BEST decision I ever made on buying another BMW. The Hexhead GS 2004 - 2009 R1200GS's are my favorite of all the GS's.
If you end up buying let me know and i have a list of what I do to theses bike when I get a new one (currently working on the 12th R1200GS). It far more than BMW calls for but I like to go through them with a fine.
