Fuel Gauge Not Working Nissan Micra. The fuel needle tends to stick. Been looking into why my fuel gauge isn't working and done some searching on here and can't seem to find the problem, at one stage my dash lights. Its seems to be viscous dampened. To test the gauge you could try unplugging the sensor connector above fuel tank, ign on and short out the sensor pin to simulate. Asking about a second opinion (ie is the shop trying to fleece me?), please read through cjm8515's post on the subject. Try removing the dash clear cover and while ign on, twirl the fuel. First i thought that it was the gauge that was faulty but now i'm pretty sure it's fine. Micra's fuel gauge won't go down even you turn off the car, as long as you see the fuel level is moving down after some driving that's normal.
