Painting Jeep Wrangler Bumpers. I recently got my hands on a 75th anniversary edition steel bumper, and as you know the color isn’t black but bronze. Hi guys, i have a 97' tj and needless to say, the bumpers are looking pretty dull. Has anyone tried painting a steel bumper? I intent to paint it black, my first thought was to spray it with rubberized undercoating 2 coats or so. Use phosphoric acid to treat rust spots if any. Buff and/or sandblast, wipe clean with solvent, allow to dry. Follow the directions and these work great. I am purchasing a new front bumper ( rokmen mercenary ) and it comes in bare steel. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to paint my jeep wrangler 2008 jk stock plastic flares and rear bumper as they are. Then go with a low gloss/matte paint on top of the undercoating 3. Used on cowl piece, door handles, hood bumpers and rear bumper. Does anyone have a suggestion on a way to.
