Step-by-Step Instructions

Attach the backrest supports to the inside of the legs using 2.5-inch screws. Space them evenly apart, about 3" from the top of the legs. Lay out the backrest slats, spacing them evenly, and attach them to the supports using 2.5-inch screws.
5. Attach the Backrest to the Seat Frame
Position the backrest assembly against the seat frame, ensuring it's square and flush with the back of the seat. Attach it using 2.5-inch screws through the backrest supports and into the seat supports.
6. Finish and Protect the Bench
Apply an exterior wood sealant or paint to protect the bench from the elements. Allow it to dry completely before using the bench.
