Dust Cover Won T Stay Closed. I spent a couple of hours trying to. anyone ever had a dust cover that will not stay closed. i have an echo 1 cqc and it appears that on the upper the little piece that is spring held that clips over the edge of. i got it running again but the dust cover wouldn’t stay up, which got annoying. the cover's detent ball appears to be slightly offset from the upper's relief cut. I tried a dust cover off another rifle and same result. Possibly it's just the plastic holding it closed and not the ball. the detent stuck out too far and would not depress enough to allow it to snap shut. the first dust cover just wouldn't stay shut, which led my gunsmith to believe it wasn't the dust cover but the indent on the receiver itself. new dust cover wont stay closed. Google searching pulled up a lot. I bought a new dust cover for my sig m400 and followed with a vid to replace it, got it together but.
