As your also looking at the 340i id assume your annual mileage wont be that high, a diesel would cause problems with small journeys.

One correction - the M 340i was introduced in 2020 (I think). 2016-2018, there was the 340i. The "M-ness" of the 2016-2018 could be dialed up through various optional packages/accessories such as M Sport, M Performance bits, LSD, Track Handling Package, etc.
