Bmw E46 Yellow Coolant Light

Just like the title says I did some searching and found many threads. Some say sensor, others say expansion tank, or air in the system. The light just randomly came on today while I was driving, but the system is full.

It is NOT overheating and has NOT overheated. So, Im guessing it's just. Does the yellow coolant light indicate a problem? other than low coolant, that is.

meaning: if the cooling system is a closed system and is working properly, shouldn't it always be at the correct level? and if so, does the low coolant light indicate a leak somewhere or a problem with the water pump? btw, the light seems to be intermittent. Edit: I have a 2006 650i (the E46 in the picture is my other car) I've read several threads on green or yellow fluids that leak onto the pavement, but I can't quite tell which of them apply to my car. Last night the coolant light came on.

I pulled off the freeway, parked and shut it down, and. Just come home and on motorway at 80mph a yellow coolant light came on but temp gauge didn't move past middle. any ideas?

Hi Guys I have a 2004 E46 318i F/l N46 version. There are a few niggly issues. The coolant light keeps coming on.

I have replaced the following: Radiator, Hoses, Thermostat, Waterpump, and yesterday, the Expansion tank. The light does not come on when car is idling from cold. It only comes on.
