Bmw K75 Coolant Change

Changing coolant and reducing fuel tank heat in BMW K-bikes, K1, K75, K100, K1100; 700 watt alternator. In case anyone is interested, the following is how I change my coolant: 1. Remove fuel tank to access fill connection.

Remove fill cap. 2. Remove coolant drain plug.

Drain coolant (into a pan for correct disposal). 3. Place garden hose into radiator fill tube.

Turn on water to slowly fill system. 4. Start engine.

Is changing coolant an easy task. Just wanting any tips that will help. Thanks folks.The bike is a 1986 750K.

The fan is now turning on more frequently in cool weather (not overheating, no light). I have never changed the coolant in my K75 myself. I have a bad pdf of a Haynes manual (waiting for a Clymer to arrive).

My first dumb question is, which is the coolant sensor that needs to be removed to drain the. For my water-cooled motorcycles, including K75S bikes, I use a silicate-free coolant. I mix the coolant with distilled water in a 50/50 mixture.

Usually when replacing the coolant I will drain the old coolant; then fill the radiator and engine with pure distilled water. I run the bike for a short while to circulate the water with the old coolant. I BOUGHT a totaled k75 in 1988 that was in a high speed crash and got it running pretty easily.
