Bmw Oil In Coolant

I'm seeking some help and advice from other members and properly diagnose oil found in coolant. It all started out with leaking coolant from water pump which is fixed recently but I'm still seeing more and more milky brown layer of oil in my expansion tank. Some member suggested that I should.

The oil filter housing gasket on these cars is a known failure point. The oil filter housing also contains an oil cooling passage for the coolant. When this gasket fails it can sometimes allow oil and coolant to contaminate each other.

N52 are not known for blown head gaskets unless they are utterly abused by their prior owners. I would get the oil filter housing gasket check before jumping to. Yet another n55 oil in coolant thread.

Flush the system with water and dawn (let engine get hot) then just water then coolant/water Mixed. BMW dealer suggested it was AT oil leaking into the coolant via the AT oil cooler (at the base of the expansion tank). FYI, quoted repairs from the BMW dealer included changing the radiator, both hoses, water pump, thermostat, AT cooler, and doing a coolant flush and fill and an oil/filter change, for $4,300.

The other day the low coolant light came on and when I looked in the expansion tank the coolant was an oily/off white color. My first thought was the head gasket however the engine oil is at the proper level and color (no coolant mixing). Oil in the coolant tank is probably a failed cooler, unless there is something wrong with your cylinder head, if it is leaking from somewhere the oil must be missing feom the engine, check the oil level and rain the cooling system, flush properly and run it on any cheap coolant for a couple of days and then inspect again. BMW recommends using specific types of coolant that meet their stringent standards. Using the wrong coolant can lead to corrosion, reduced efficiency, and even system failure.

It's essential for owners to adhere to the manufacturer's guidelines regarding coolant type and replacement intervals to ensure the system functions as intended.
