Bath German Society exists to promote German culture in Bath and the surrounding areas and to provide a forum for native speakers and non. The BRLSI German group was started in 2014 in order to foster an interest in the German language and in German-speaking countries and their culture. Meetings are held in German and English (or both) and cover a diverse range of topics of interest, whatever your cultural preoccupations.
Bath German Society offers monthly talks on a wide range of subjects and discussion evenings in both German and English, as well as an annual celebration of Nikolausabend and other social events. Willkommen to the German society! Who are we? A new society for 2023-2024, we welcome anyone with an interest in the German speaking world. Whether you are German, study German or are simply interested in the German language and culture - our society has something for you!
This society was founded in 2011 to allow native German speakers and Bath students who study German to get to know each other, practice their language skills and learn about German culture in a casual and fun environment. News Bath German Society Christmas Celebration Some members of BBTA joined members of Bath German Society for the annual celebration of Advent and Christmas. We were entertained by professional musicians, regaled with festive treats, and were able to indulge in our memories of past German Christmasses.
Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution BRLSI Lisa Davey, Chair of the society reads a poem in Middle High German, with a translation into modern German and English. Members of the society read a short play directed by Judy Spencer and other members offer up readings of their own favourite works. Bath German Society's activities are still somewhat restricted.

Bath German Society will be meeting on Thursday 14th July for our annual book discussion, which will be led by Judith Spencer. This year the book is "Daheim" by Judith Hermann, a well-established and highly regarded German author. The book has been a Spiegel bestseller, as well as being nominated for the Preis der Leipziger Buchmesse 2021.
