The Pool Nature Center Building was designed to provide one-on-one assistance to students with dyslexia. We will continue that tradition of educational use with a newly opened classroom-sized presentation space, trails, gardens and an outdoor pavillion. The Pool Nature Center serves as the operational base for the Vermont Museum of Natural History, located in Marlboro.
Established on a 7.5-acre parcel donated in 2022, the Pool Nature Center includes a 1,600-square-foot building and an outdoor pavilion used for educational programming, summer camps, and public events. The Pool Nature Center will be open to the public on Sunday from 10AM-2PM. Staff and volunteers will be around to answer questions, provide directions and maybe even introduce some of our non-releasable animals.
The reptile room will be open, and if the weather is nice look for some of our animals in their outdoor play area! Explore the grounds and our nature paths, including the quarter mile. The Vermont Museum of Natural History and Pool Nature Center is a hidden gem with extensive taxidermy collections, live animals including rescued birds and reptiles, and knowledgeable staff. Visitors are impressed by the large exhibitions of animals, especially the native animal exhibit featuring beautiful rescued owls and eagles.
The Vermont Natural History Museum fosters an interest in nature, the environment and the natural sciences through exhibition and educational activities. The Pool Nature Center is our current base of operations and home to our education animals and staff.
