These tiles usually come in sheets and if the installer isn't skilled, it becomes glaringly obvious. As for cracking or breaking. The most important thing is the tile base.

You want to make sure that subfloor isn't flexing. I recommend a cement board then Schluter system. It depends.

A master bathroom? Make sure your subfloor is in good condition and buy a good ceramic or porcelain. If it's a bathroom that your kids use and and get water all over the floor, go with a sheet vinyl, and caulk the shit out of it. You're asking for the best, that's tile.

If you don't like grout, use epoxy. Vinyl is a knockoff of the real thing and some is decent in glue down form but it's 2nd best. Alterna/UltraCeramic/etc are thick vinyl tiles with acrylic grout.

Tiling floors is easy and a small bathroom is a great project for your first attempt. The setup is a bit more involved than interlocking vinyl plank, but I think it's easier to do a good job with tile. Do your homework to ensure that you're using the correct trowel and mortar, and watch a few videos on how to lay a proper mortar bed.

I definitely see mistakes I've made but I'm. So my question r/HomeImprovement is: would you go with a matte or polished tile for your bathroom floor? What other issues am I not considering? For what its worth, I plan on using the same tile in a polished finish, though a smaller size for the shower walls. My contractor is set to begin next week so I need to make the decision pronto!

Quality of tile was great. And went above and beyond to get more tiles for me from their Florida location that had more variation in the marble because what they had in their warehouse was more plain than i wanted. Overall good experience.
