Heat Lamp For Kiln. I was wondering if anyone had ever tried heat lamps, such as those for an aquarium or terrarium. These are 90% efficient at producing heat (and only 10% efficient at producing light), and they are great heat sources for a kiln. Using a dehumidifier, a box fan, a 250 w heat lamp, with 219 board feet of green white oak. I have used light bulbs but they burn out so quickly and are a big pain to switch out. My thinking is to put them on a thermostat. Ideally there would be a commercial product available. I am trying to heat a wood kiln safely to 140 degrees f. I built a wood drying kiln 4’ x 4’ x 16”. I am looking for supplemental heat in my kilns.
