Boot Wont Open Honda Civic. I spoke to honda (swansea) who advised i check the fuse box in drivers side footwell (fine) and that some other civic owners have had. About a month ago during the really cold weather, the boot lid on my civic stopped opening, and a couple of days later the alarm. I did eventually get it. So you lock the car but. What i noticed is when you squeeze the handle to open the boot it doesn't always return back to it's normal position. Suddenly my boot won't open. It's like something is telling the main control unit that the boot is still locked so it's trying to open it. I'm sure someone smarter than me can confirm, but isn't there a small plastic cover over the locking mechanism on the inside of the bootlid that allows you to open the boot without power?. When i unlock the car the boot will be. When i press the fob i can hear the 4 door locks move, but can't hear anything from the boot one. Couldn't drop the rear seats as the dog guard bolts to the head rests so had to try and undo it through the guard.
