Dust Cap Stuck. I've used a load of wd40 and left it to soak and even tried. How do i go about removing these ? Got 3 metal dust caps stuck on my alloy wheels. Apparently you're supposed to lubricate the valve before putting the metal ones on. But when the above method does not work, the wisest way is to remove the valve with a hacksaw. Rust is the leading cause of metal caps stuck. When i went to add some air to my tires one day, i found that the caps were seized up. If you find it around the tire valve, soak the entire valve stems with a special pb blaster (or liquid wrench) overnight to remove rust. Now i am unable to get them off. One cap off no bother but the other 3 are not budging. If they're that stuck, then call in a tyre place and they'll either get them off for you, or replace the valves completely.
