We are on vacation in NYC and this fact confuses us so much: Almost every fast-food joint either has its restrooms out of service or none anyways. The same goes for public restrooms. How do people here manage to drink enough without being in desperate search for a restroom all the time?

Some parks have public bathrooms, such as Washington Square Park, East River State Park (Williamsburg), Colombus Park, the Hudson waterfront parks. However these are very very unreliable, often they are locked up for no apparent reason, or like the Wash. Square.
