Differential Cross Pin Stuck. My problem is that after pulling the set pin (came out whole, looking good albeit a bit dirty) the main pin that goes through the spider gears will only move about 3/8 of an inch in either. The cross pin is snug and i can't move it back and forth with my fingers so it's making this job even harder. Then rotate the diff assembly in order for the center pin. Heat & strength highly recommended! I have all the threads, but no pin. If the 5/16's retaining pin for the center pin is out, that is more than half the battle. This is in my ford 8.8 rear axle but is the same process on most chevy and dana. The easiest way to remove a broken cross pin lock bolt.
