Check and repair the gear shift lever and its components, such as the linkage, spring, and bolt. When i shifted from one gear to another, the shift lever didn't spring back if you know what i mean. Straighten, tighten, lubricate, or replace your shifter parts as needed. This was preventing the bolt from lining up with the hole. Riding today the shifter decided to not spring return to the middle position. The spring that makes the shifter shaft return to the middle position after shifting gears.
