Kitchen Fitting ikea service void query! Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.31 PM Hello, I have a question about the dreaded Ikea kitchen service void! I live in flat in a converted listed building and am not allowed to remove the original wood and plaster huge skirting boards (I wouldn't want to anyway!) so, to accommodate this skirting the kitchen base units will be butted up against the skirting. I'm planning to have a new Ikea kitchen and read about the lack of service void behind their cupboards. Can someone please advise on how this is best managed? I will have a sink and washing machine that will have plumbing.

Also, I'm happy to redivert plumbing once the old units are out and. Ikea kitchens are excellent, with regards to the void, if you do what I did, run lengths of 2 x 2 Level around the perimeter of where the units are going. With the top edge of the 2 x 2 being level with the top edge of the carcases.

The rail system is great for hanging and lining up the cabinets, the interior storage solutions are great and in typical Ikea fashion they are easy to assemble. The lack of a service void is infuriating, as is their inability to produce cabinets in any widths with an odd number, leaving you the job of scribing far too many filler pieces. With IKEA units the lack of a service void means that you need to relocate the wastes and other pipework below the level of the cabinet base.

The only one you'll have problems with is the waste where you must check carefully that the fall is sufficient (or that the run is not too long). IKEA offers limited warranties starting on the day of purchase on select product series with the original receipt as proof of purchase. Hi all The lack of a service void on IKEA kitchen cabinets has been discussed several times here.

In my case (if I choose an IKEA kitchen) this will be as issue under the sink as there are two pipes running horizontally behind the sink unit and the adjacent corner unit. Could a solution be simply to miss out the hardboard backing board and cut notches in the side. Hi, We are planning to fit our Ikea kitchen ourselves and have read alot about the fact that Ikea units don't have a service void for pipes etc to go at the back.

And since our kitchen planner guy can't seem to actually check for stock like he says, I'm paying an extra $49/delivery of batches of one to three cabinets as they come in stock online. Especially since two cabinets we told had a 6 month wait can up as available for delivery yesterday. And we're only available for maaaaybe an hour.

A service void in essence is just a bit of blank space but this space is essential in the design of your kitchen. There are 2 main types of service void, these are a rear service void and a side/corner service void.
