Guitar Strap Sitting Down. I know that many guitar players use a strap both for standing and sitting. Some believe that you should wear your strap so the guitar sits in the same position it would if you were sitting and playing. You do not want the guitar to be too low or too high, as this can strain your shoulder and neck muscles. When using a guitar strap, and standing, i have heard, that your guitar needs to be done by your waist, is this true, or is it a matter of personal preference.
