Summary [edit] Certain room roles grant moodlets based on their Impressiveness, which is affected by all four substats. To gain the moodlet, the room must be used by a pawn for the role's associated purpose (i.e., eating at a table for the dining room role or playing billiards for the rec room role). I use the same room for both.

When pawns successfully eat a meal in it, they get the mood buff for the dining room. When they max out their joy in it, they get the mood for rec room. I keep a shelf of meals in it, so they always wake up, eat and then have a few hours of joy right away.

the recreation tables are kind of an odd size for how i want to build? any ideas how to plan it? I thought maybe do poker table with chairs around it by itself like 7x7 walls around it. I know Dining/Rec rooms should be combined. (with a throne room as well if you can tile the whole thing) but what other rooms do you guys combine? Most rimworld guides will tell you to ditch your barracks and move on to bedrooms.

I recommend ditching your old barracks and making a single super-room. An extremely impressive barracks/dining/rec room will give you a +14 moodlet and is quite easy to make (as illustrated below) and allows for 21 people to sleep and dine.
