Pajero 4M40 Boost Pressure. My max elery w/s manual doesn't give the max boost pressure but it does give the max test pressure for the wastegate actuator as 161 kpa. I've fitted in a boost controller and a boost gauge to adjust the maximum boost pressure. But how safe is it. 1.5 bar (21psi) is miles to high for the 4m40. I ran my pajero at 1.4 bar boost for 1000 km at the coast it is a total pleasure to drive like that. He's managed to get the power up fron 109 bhp to 167 bhp, and that makes a very noticeable difference to the drive. I'm looking at the kinugawa. My problem is i cannot increase the boost over 0.9bar, the pressure relief valve will trigger. In both instances its highly likely your new turbo is producing more boost than the old stock turbo which is why the overboost valve is letting. I used to run 14psi which is about 1ish bar and that was probably too high. Dangerous without an egt but just tells us that the 4m40 is a strong motor and may stand up to higher boost pressures. Ended off dropping it back to.
