Absolutely blew my mind. I also like the pucks you put in your toilet tank that gradually release similar stuff to combat limescale. But they make it take longer for your clean toilet to get stained, they do not effectively remove stains.
Strangely, I haven't actually found an acid based toilet cleaner. What name brand cleaning products do you use to clean and disinfect your toilet? Both Hydrochloric Acid (Lysol/Harpic) or Sodium Hypochlorite (Clorox/Domestos/Domex - AKA chlorine bleach) are synonymous for cleaning toilets while effectively killing germs. So unless she has been secretly cleaning the toilet every single time I spray it down for the past 3 years now, as some sort of prank, this shit woooorks.
I have since decided to not buy toilet cleaner liquids again -- I swear by that Clorox Cleaner+Bleach spray. EDIT: IMPORTANT not to mix bleach products with other cleaning products. Cleaning daily will do a lot of good and not cause any problems with icky soap in water drank by children, pets, or drunk people.
Also cleaning daily with a brush and toilet cleaner will make it more comfortable when you are not feeling well and need a space to get sick. Denture cleaning tablets can be dropped into your toilet to help deal with stains there. Most other cleaning can be done with regular detergent and water.
Brand doesn't really matter. Use diluted bleach on mould. A bottle of cheap brand bleach is $2.
Diluted it is effective for 24 hours so only make up the amount you need. The outside of the toilet gets wiped at least once a week, more if I know people are coming over. I just mix up some lysol all purpose cleaner and hot water in a little bucket that I bought in the paint department, and use one rag to clean and one to dry.
Another good reason to do the toilets last, I start with the same 2 rags with sinks and shower, then do toilet at the end and throw the rags. For general daily cleaning, dish soap. For the toilet, get a toilet bowl cleaner specifically made for tackling limescale build up and use as per instructions.
It should melt the limescale without too much or any scrubbing required. The r/CleaningTips subreddit, for instance, holds thousands of gems tried and tested by busy, everyday homeowners, from the things people with clean bathrooms always do, to the highly. I clean the outside of the toilet with all purpose cleaner and the same cloth, then toilet cleaner and the scrubber for the bowl.
Bon Ami or some other scrubbing powder for the shower (with sponge that is designated as bathroom sponge). Chlorine for the grout, chlorine in gel form (toilet cleaner) for silicone seal (apply and let it sit for as long as it takes, reapply if it flows down) But ultimately seals have to be redone. And some hardwater remover for hardwater stains.
You can try with vinegar for hardwater, but it seems pretty bad, so prolly some stronger stuff will be.
