Is it possible to root the 4K Max? I've read it might be possible with the regular 4K. I'm interested in installing custom launchers to eliminate some of the Amazon clutter. I've noticed these devices use Google DNS, even though I've set my WiFi to use a private DNS, yet ads continue to appear frequently.

Apparently these devices use Google DNS and that can't be changed on WiFi for some reason. I had to block it on the router using a static route so at least there's that. Archived post.
