Understanding "Bird Box" and Its Fandom
"Bird Box" is a 2018 American post-apocalyptic horror film directed by Susanne Bier and written by Eric Heisserer. The movie is based on Josh Malerman's 2014 novel of the same name and stars Sandra Bullock, Trevante Rhodes, and John Malkovich. The film follows a post-apocalyptic world where a creature, invisible to the human eye, forces people to commit suicide if they look at it. The survivors must live blindfolded, navigating their surroundings by sound and touch.
The film gained significant popularity and sparked a social media challenge, the "Bird Box Challenge," where participants attempted to perform tasks while blindfolded. Despite the challenge's popularity, Netflix and other platforms discouraged the trend due to safety concerns.
