Toyota USA has refreshed its RAV4 for 2026, and, in a significant step forward for efficiency, Toyota has axed the non. The new RAV4 will employ the marque's first-ever fully electric powertrain while retaining the current model's proportions. Charge up your drive with the 2025 Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid (previously the RAV4 Prime).
With fuel-efficient plug-in power and spacious comfort, it's ready for every adventure. The plug-in RAV4 is better than ever for 2026 with 50 miles of electric range and DC fast-charging. Yes, really.
The Toyota RAV4 EV is an all-electric version of the popular RAV4 SUV produced by Toyota until 2014. Two generations of the EV model were sold in California, and to fleets elsewhere in the US, with a gap of almost ten years between them. The EV version of the RAV4 won't be Toyota's first attempt at electrifying the popular crossover.
Toyota unveiled the redesigned sixth generation of the RAV4 SUV on Tuesday. With the announcement came the latest in sneaky PR vernacular. In the press release from the company, it reads, "America's best-selling compact SUV will now be 100% electrified." If you're like most normal people, you read that and thought, "Wow, the new RAV4 is an EV?".
The 2026 Toyota RAV4 emerges fully redesigned with hybrid-only powertrains, up to 324 horsepower in PHEV form, and 52-mile electric range starting at $31,900. Interestingly, Japan's Best Car magazine suggests a third electrified version, a fully-electric Toyota RAV4, for the sixth. The first model to come out of this side project was the RAV4 EV, debuting in 1998 in California due to the state's Air Resource Board's Zero.
