Known as the N120/N130 series, these models continued to be based on the Hilux pickup. You could therefore have, for example, a 1 st Gen model registered in 1990. All UK market 4Runners are 2 nd Gen models and are essentially identical to the Hilux Surf, minor differences exist in trim levels and specification etc.
All UK 4Runners have 3.0L engines (both petrol & diesel models). I have a Gen 2 SSR-X and have a fleet of about 10 more at work now (had 20). I am considering stepping up to a Gen 3 and was interested in user opinions of the real world differences between the two generations of the surf.
Mine is the 3.0 TD/ Auto and would be looking for similar in a Gen 3. I know the back door/ window is different, thankfully.
