Esta noche se celebra la final = de la Eurocopa entre España e Inglaterra. La mayor parte de Europa est= ará pendiente de la televisión, yo incluido. Y eso que, hasta hac= e poco, mi visión del fútbol era que era un deport= e camino a la irrelevancia.

Mi p= rincipal argumento era que al haber restringido la distribución ví= ;a el pago por visión, las nuevas generaciones, privadas de la oportun= idad de verlo en abierto, no establecerían el vínculo con el f= 50;tbol que los adultos de mi generación habíamos formado. <= /p>

En cierto modo estaba proyectando mi propia experienci= a, recordando con cariño aquellos primeros partidos televisados que vi= de pequeño en el pueblo con mi abuelo. En mi cabeza, eso había s= ido fundamental para que me interesara por el fútbol cuando era un cha= val. 

Y entonces, tuve un hijo.<= /p>

Mi hijo tiene ahora mismo seis años. En casa, has= ta esta Eurocopa, creo que sólo se ha puesto un partido de fútbol= en la televisión, la final del mundial Argentina-Francia en 2022. Y n= i siquiera lo vio.

Podríamos decir que ha tenido = cero exposición al fútbol en el ámbito familiar. Con este pa= norama, entended mi sorpresa cuando hace unas semanas al recogerlo del cole= gio me dijo:

Papá, = ¿sabes que Mbappé se va al Madrid?

Ojalá alguien me hubiera estado grabando mi reacción en= ese momento. Le pregunté si sabía quién era Mbappé y n= o tenía la más remota idea, pero en el cole había oído = que era bueno y que lo había fichado el Madrid.

<= span>Y entonces es cuando pensé que el fútbol es L= indy, y harían falta mucho más que unas generaciones sin acceso a= fútbol en abierto para que desapareciera.

El efecto Lindy=

El efecto Lindy es una heurística propuesta po= r Nas= sim Taleb en su libro Antifrágil según la= cual, las cosas no perecederas como las ideas, tecnolog= 7;as o instituciones envejecen al revés.

¿Qué significa envejecer al revés? Pues que al= contrario que sucede con las cosas perecederas como la comida o la ropa do= nde, por cada día que pasa, su esperanza de vida decrece, en el univer= so de las cosas no perecederas, cada día que sobreviven hace más = probable que lo hagan un día más.

Así, = por ejemplo, si un libro lleva 100 años publicándose es probable = que lo siga haciendo otros 100. Si una obra en Broadway lleva 10 años = exhibiéndose, es probable que lo siga haciendo otra década.

El fútbol moderno nació en Inglaterra a mediados = de 1800, por lo que lleva casi 200 años entre nosotros. Según el = efecto Lindy lo seguirá haciendo al menos otros dos siglos. 

<= p style=3D"color: rgb(54, 55, 55); font-size: 16px; line-height: 26px; marg= in: 0 0 20px 0;">Y es que 200 años han dado para mucho, y el fútb= ol se ha introducido hasta literalmente, el patio de los colegios de nuestr= os hijos. Y no sólo ahí. Sin saber cómo, por mi casa han emp= ezado a aparecer cromos de la selección española. Y hasta un bal&= #243;n de fútbol de la selección que sus abuelas le han regalado = a través de una promoción de una gran cadena de distribución= =2E

¿Cuántas generaciones sin acceso a= verlo en abierto hacen falta para que el fútbol desaparezca?= Desde luego más de las que veré en mi vida. El fútbol= es Lindy.

Elige = lo aburrido

Jeff Bezos tiene una argum= entación famosa acerca de centrarse en mejorar aquello que no va a cambiar<= /a>. En el caso de Amazon, sus clientes siempre van a querer:<= /p>

Bezos levantó el im= perio de Amazon sobre esas premisas, pero además, lo hizo sobre una in= dustria que de por sí era Lindy, la de la distribución. El ser hu= mano lleva milenios comprando y vendiendo cosas. Es fácil anticipar qu= e lo seguirá haciendo unos cuántos milenios más.

Y pienso, si tuviera que empezar un negocio de cero, si tuviera q= ue crear un nuevo producto, ¿dónde tendría más posibili= dades de éxito? ¿Sobre un sector Lindy, que lleva siglos entre no= sotros, o sobre un sector de nueva creación? ¿En los sectores de = la izquierda, o en los de la derecha?

S= i sólo nos fijamos en la esperanza de vida, los de la izquierda son mu= cho más prometedores que los de la derecha. Es mucho más probable= que sigan entre nosotros dentro de 10 años. Pero además, tambi&#= 233;n gozan de otra ventaja poca veces apreciada: no son sec= tores sexis. 

Lo sexy hoy e= n día es el segundo advenimiento de la Inteligencia Artificial. Pero a= ntes de eso, lo sexy eran las criptomonedas y los NFTs. Y antes, la realida= d virtual y lo cuántico. Lo sexy es divertido e interesante. Lo sexy a= trae todas las miradas y la inversión. 

Lo malo es que también atrae a la competencia. Y ge= neralmente, lo que no quieres cuando sales al mercado, es competir directam= ente con cientos de empresas que están haciendo lo mismo que tú.&= #160;

Peter Thiel, lo tiene claro a este respec= to:

Competition is overr= ated. In practice it is quite destructive and should be avoided wherever po= ssible. Much better than fighting for scraps in existing markets is to crea= te and own new ones.

Conclusiones

¿Es= estúpido invertir en sectores que no han demostrado ser Lindy? No. Si= mplemente es más arriesgado. Y por ser más arriesg= ado, probablemente está en cierto modo restringido a aquellos que tien= en poco que perder, como los jóvenes libres de responsabilidades famil= iares, o aquellos que cuenten con un gran colchón de seguridad.=

Mi propia carrera es buen ejemplo de ello. Lancé= mi primera web con 18 años desde la comodidad de una habitación = en casa de mis padres. Me fue bien y he tenido la suerte de haber navegado = toda mi vida profesional con el viento de cola de Internet. Pero si me hubi= era ido mal, tan sólo habría perdido un par de años de mi vi= da y probablemente ahora estaría haciendo cualquier otra cosa.

Hoy en día, con 44 años y responsabilidades familia= res, analizaría mucho más cuál sería mi próximo em= prendimiento. Y con la perspectiva que te da la edad, aquellos sectores que= todavía no han pasado el test del tiempo y donde la competencia es fe= roz me resultan mucho menos atractivos para emprender.

Un punto intermedio, y quizás la clave para alinear riesgo, recompens= a e interés, pudiera ser tratar de resolver los problemas de los secto= res Lindy, con las tecnologías emergentes de los sectores no Lindy. La= clave, nuestra palanca en este caso, residiría en conocer bien los pr= oblemas de los sectores de la izquierda. 

Y siguiendo ese hilo, no puedo evitar llegar a la conclusi= ón de que lo que tiene valor no es la tecnología q= ue apliquemos, si no el verdadero conocimiento del problema.=
