State Rooms at Osborne Wander through the opulent state rooms at Osborne and see where Queen Victoria and Prince Albert formally entertained guests during their reign. Discover where dignataries and diplomats were served dinner in the Dining Room and the billiard table where recreational games and singing around the piano provided a break from the formalities of court life. All Osborne House's state rooms are splendid, from the yellow satin adorning the Drawing & Billiard Room to the superb chandelier in the Council Room.

But for me, there is something utterly mesmerising about the Durbar Room. The drawing room is a symphony of silk wall coverings, gilt mirrors, and delicate Minton porcelain, while the magnificent Durbar Room, added in 1890-91, pays homage to Victoria's role as Empress of India with its intricate Indian. On the right, the bays of the Pavilion belonged to the drawing room on the ground floor, the Queen's sitting room on the first floor, and above that, the nursery bedroom.

All at Osborne House remains in its Victorian splendour, from the cosy family sitting-room and the splendour of the State Drawing-Room along the Grand Corridor with its marble statues and frieze in the Greek style, to the huge "Durbar Room" built in the Indian manner which commemorated Queen Victoria's title of Empress of India, bestowed.
