The Coffee Table is gaining some popularity based on one incredibly disturbing scene. The movie was released back in 2022 but is now being talked about thanks to Stephen King's rave reviews. The Spanish horror-comedy The Coffee Table is the latest movie to come with such hype; in fact, even the likes of Stephen King have lauded it by using terms like "Coen brothers' dark dream." Letterboxd is flooded with reviews that are saying what a terribly difficult, anxiety.

Unspeakable horror meets the blackest of black comedy in this tale of a married couple, their newborn and a tacky coffee table. Jesus and Maria, to celebrate their new baby, go furniture shopping. Reactions to the movie are pretty extreme, but nobody seems to discuss why.

Without spoilers, what makes it so intense? Gore? Traumatic subject material? Is it just absurd? I'm curious what everyone thinks about the movie before watching it myself. 'The dining room's small table') is a 2022 Spanish black comedy [1] film directed by Caye Casas and written by Casas and Cristina Borobia which stars David Pareja and Estefanía de los Santos. It's pretty intense, and the effects in this scene are totally convincing.

On top of that, The Coffee Table is also a hilarious black comedy. For the first twenty minutes or so, the humor comes primarily from Jesús and María's banter, and it had me laughing out loud at least once every minute or two. 'The Coffee Table' really does hang on its shocking scene in the film's first 30 minutes and from that point on, you're basically watching a man's anxiety threaten to push him over the edge.
