The e46 330i zf 6 trans is pretty easy to put into e36. I put one in one of my cars that was a 5 spd. You will need the trans, matching clutch & flywheel, shorten the shifter linkage, shorten front half of your driveshaft (it needs to be longer than auto but shorter than factory manual one).
