I dont see a point of getting a car when you go off to college the next year but if your dad is willing to do it then id say go for it. At least you will have something to look forward to when you come home. And i would never recommend taking a car to college (especially a BMW).

So I'm debating between this or a newer MX-5 (2016/17). But I like the charm of the bmw and I think they will have some appreciating value. For learning how to maintain your car this is probaably one of the best (from bmw at least) NA engine is simple enough and because of the long bonnet you can easily reach all around the engine.
