Ichigo Getsuga Color

Getsuga Tenshō (月牙天衝, Moon Fang Heaven-Piercer; Viz "Moon-Fang Piercer of the Heavens") is a Zanpakutō technique of Ichigo Kurosaki's Zangetsu and Isshin Kurosaki's Engetsu. What's up with Ichigo's aura / Getsuga color? I read some years ago his Getsugas are actually Golden? I'm cool with the colors from the old anime and TYBW, it actually looks fucking amazing. Just saw the JYB voice clip of Ichigo going Bankai. But why didn't they ever fix this previously in the anime? They had years to switch it up.
