Bmw 1250 Engine Noise
I have a strange sound when engine is under load at around 3000. My 2020 R1250 GS made a rattle noise under acceleration from low RPM and at constant motorway/high speeds. After a year of back and forth with BMW UK, 6 separate visits, a new clutch, engine rebuild and valve adjustment, BMW have just replaced my entire engine (gearbox and clutch included) at 15,000 miles (under warranty).
My 2021 R1250GS has developed what I can best describe as a "thrumming" (oscillating) sound over the past 4-5k miles of a cross US/Canada road trip my wife and I are currently on. I had the 12k mile service done at a BMW dealership in Quebec City, but they didn't have time to really look into. Is noise associated with the new 1250 series engines an indication of this? I don't have hard numbers on boxer MTBF but one generally accepted evaluation of BMW engines is that if properly serviced and maintained, they run for a very long time.
Hi guys. I have been looking at the threads on this ticking cam chain issue. I have done about 5 K's on my R1250 2023.
It has just had the 10k service a K ago. My issue since I have owned it is the strange noise coming from the LH cylinder. It sounds a bit like a low pinking noise, (not ticking).
My job is an electrical engineer with specialty at heavy troubleshooting through electromechanical systems and I will try to find the source of noise. So if you don't like to hear that your beloved brand BMW has made a factory mistake somewhere in the engine (lile tensioner and lot more things), just bypass this discussion. 2019 BMW R 1250 GS HP.
2,300km. Sounds OK when cold but the left cylinder makes a horrible noise when hot. Had the bike just a couple of days.

Noise comes from engine area. My 1200 does that, not as loud as yours. Mine does it just pottering along at 50kmh, in 3rd and open the the throttle I can hear it.
It doesn't sound. I've got a R1250r with about 11000km on the clock. The motor seems to be getting more noisy for the last 1000km or so.
Nothing terrible but noiser than it was. Still under warranty but the dealers will say "what noise, it's fine". Anyone else experienced this with a 1250?
