Hi guys, had the Z3 for 5 months now with no problems until today. Went to lower the electric roof and it wouldn't operate. I can hear the motor working but no mechanical roof action. I've not had chance to look at it properly until tomorrow so was wondering if anyone had a similar problem and could give me a good start point.

One common problem is the microswitch at the softtop frame is broken, the one that checks if you have lifted the front end manually.
my 1999 bmw z3 will not start, code A9 & 44 shows up air pump keeps running when ignition & drains the battery out while ignition is also:engine light & EML light comes on. will crank but will no jumped the battery,opened & closed the gas cap,checked all the electric connections.

Hi Guys, I'm hoping you can help. Again. I've got a couple of issues with my car, 1. it seems a bit down on power, 2. The ASC appears to have stopped working, but the main thing is the fault with the roof. Basically sometimes the roof will open but not close, and sometimes it won't open at all. It also seems to be worse when it sunny and hot, which isn't great for a convertible, lol.
I have a 98 M Roadster (love it!). The electric roof became quite intermittent. I had the relays and the switch replaced - no help. We put an ohm meter across the switch in the roof itself (drivers side).
