What are the treatments? The area targeted will determine the treatment. The application of a numbing gel to the area should be done approximately 20 minutes before the procedure. There might be some discomfort but no pain. An anesthetic will be applied to the area that requires more intense treatment. We recommend that you return to our office within 24 to 48 hours to receive further treatment. This includes any additional drainage of excess sebum. It involves inserting a radiofrequency-triggered needle into the skin to stimulate the precise number of pulses required for the treatment area.
What does it mean to recover? There may be some swelling, redness and bruising in the first week. Some patients may experience numbness up to four weeks after deep treatments. When will I see results? The treatment area may appear more severe than normal during the recovery period. As your body heals over the weeks and months that follow the procedure, you'll notice a noticeable difference in collagen formation and skin tightening. This will allow you to mold your structure back to the desired appearance. It is possible to get the best results with just one treatment. However, not all procedures can be done in one go. To achieve optimal results, you might need more than one procedure.

We get questions from potential patients who come to our Lenexa office for an aesthetic treatments because they want to look younger. We asked Dr. Margolin about his advice to patients who might have unrealistic expectations about aesthetic treatments. Dr. Margolin said, “I tell potential patients the truth: I am an M.D., not a magician. I understand that it’s natural for people to want to look their best. Everyone wants to look their best, so they feel their best. Aesthetic treatments like BOTOX can temporarily reduce lines and wrinkles but these treatments can’t make them look like they did in college or like their favorite supermodel.”
Dr. Margolin explains aging skin like a piece of paper. “If you take a piece of paper and fold it in different ways repeatedly for decades, the paper would have permanent creases. This is what happens to our skin!” Injectable treatments like BOTOX and JUVEDERM can temporarily reduce aging signs by relaxing facial muscles and filling in certain areas.
Although it might not seem that way, we lose fat on the face, especially around the cheek area, as people age. Our faces lose fat, our skin sags, and the loss of facial volume forms laugh lines and other wrinkles.
