Abstract:
The FGGD crop suitability maps at low, intermediate and high levels of inputs under rainfed conditions on global land area are global raster datalayers with a resolution of 5 arc-minutes. Each pixel contains the 2005 version of the suitability index for rainfed production of the crop or crop group concerned. The method and crop coverage of each crop group are described in FAO and IIASA, 2007, Mapping biophysical factors that influence agricultural production and rural vulnerability, by H. von Velthuizen et al. |
Metadata elements shown with blue text are defined in the International Organization for Standardization's (ISO) document 19115 Geographic Information - Metadata. Elements shown with green text are defined by ESRI and will be documented as extentions to the ISO 19115. Elements shown with a green asterisk (*) will be automatically updated by ArcCatalog.

The FGGD Digital Atlas consists of more than 100 global database that allows to analyse food insecurity and poverty in relation to the environment.
This dataset is contained in Module 6 "Land productivity potential" of Food Insecurity, Poverty and Environment Global GIS Database (FGGD) (FAO, 2007).
