Understanding the Snake in Chinese Zodiac
The Snake is the sixth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. People born in the years 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, and 2025 are considered Snakes in the Chinese calendar. Snakes are known for their wisdom, charm, and intelligence. They are also believed to be lucky, prosperous, and have a deep appreciation for beauty and art.
In Chinese culture, the Snake is also associated with the earthly branch symbol '巳' (sì) and the hour 9-11 in the morning. It's one of the four noble creatures, along with the Dragon, Phoenix, and Tortoise, and is often depicted in Chinese art and literature.
Chinese New Year: A Brief Overview
Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival or Lunar New Year, is the most important festival in Chinese culture. It's a time for family reunions, feasting, and celebrating the arrival of spring. The festival lasts for 15 days, starting from the first day of the lunar calendar and ending with the Lantern Festival.
Each year is associated with one of the 12 zodiac animals, and the year's animal is believed to influence the people born in that year. 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit, but the Snake is still a significant symbol, especially for those born in Snake years.
