Zinsser 123 Vs 123 Plus
When you compare zinsser 123 plus vs 123, both are versatile. Plus wins on stain blocking and tricky surfaces. 123 wins on value for clean, common prep.
Stain blocking: Plus handles tough stains better than 123. Adhesion: Plus bites harder on glossy, PVC, fiberglass, tile, and some plastics. You think Zinsser 123 is an inferior waterborne primer product, but have yet to reveal another waterborne primer that provides a better stain killing ability.
And by the way, the discussion never implied that 123 was a preferred stain killer. All three Zinsser primers are very high quality, you just need to know which one to use for which application. Zinsser 123 is great for surfaces that are easier to adhere to and has low odour.
We bought a tin of Zinsser BIN, Coverstain and Bulls Eye 123. We then tested these paints on all different kinds of surfaces to see which one you should use! Rust-Oleum Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Plus Water-Based Primer is great for galvanized metal and is the preferred choice over an oil-based primer.
Oil-based paints and primer will not properly adhere to galvanized metal because of the zinc on the surface. I think the main difference between the two is stain blocking power. The only main difference I found is the 123+ goes on a bit quicker and appeared to cover better.
It dried out quite transparent though, but then BE123 was never used for its opacity.
